Central Virginia Health Services Expands Dental Services
Residents of the Petersburg area and Westmoreland County have a new option for dental care. Central Virginia During the month of June, the Appomattox Area Health & Wellness Center and the Westmoreland Medical Center will begin seeing patients for dental care. Dental care may include cleaning, extractions, fillings and other major dental work as needed. These services are also available on the sliding scale fee which is based on family income and size.
Dr. Sheilandice Holmes, a native of the Petersburg area, is currently accepting new patients and appointments may be made by calling the Appomattox Area Health & Wellness Center at (804) 733-5591.
Dr. Dan Pouchot is currently seeing patients at the Westmoreland Medical Center in Montross, VA. Appointments may be made to see Dr. Pouchot by calling the clinic at (804) 493-9999.
Unsung Hero Award Winner
Rhonda Algeier, MD, has been awarded Virginia Health Care Foundation’s “Unsung Hero” award for the year 2007 for Physician of the Year.
Dr. Rhonda Algeier grew up in Charlotte County and taught high school there before leaving to go to medical school. A passionate advocate for ensuring high quality health care to medically underserved patients, Dr. Algeier returned to her community to practice at Charlotte Primary Care. Dr. Algeier is a wonderful model for young people in the community. Charlotte Primary Care, already a very community minded practice, was a great fit for Dr. Algeier. In addition to all the patients she serves there, Dr. Algeier has also been active in the community by helping to get affordable, high quality day care services for children of the community.
